Alistair Cranmer
Everyone in Oppidum has his own specialisation. Alistair’s is interim project & programme management - setting up or sorting out organisations in (or expecting) a crisis. You cannot do this without having built up and maintained a solid track record of successful full & complex project and programme management experience. And by being certified to train in the leading best practices in these areas. Make the team successful is the key factor in crisis management, and in frequent board roles where he supervises the governance, quality & maturity of large projects or programmes.
Alistair brings a different perspective on solution delivery and organisational improvement. Alistair immigrated to the Netherlands from England in 1996, having completed 10 years of a career in the Royal Navy as a Helicopter Pilot. His naval career had started with a scholarship and then a bursary to read Law, Management & Psychology at the University of Liverpool in 1987. This first career involved from staff roles in the top echelons of the Royal Navy to operational tasks in conflict zones abroad. When he arrived in the Netherlands, he has was quickly taken up to solve Human Resource, IT and organisational problems in international companies. This lead quickly on to Global Programme & Projects leadership blended with line responsibilities as a release director manager & as a managing consultant - often requiring the setting up or turning around business units. Delivering the change AT THE SAME TIME as continuing the operations is the defining factor.
Alistair became a Managing Partner of Oppidum in May 2004. In the previous eight years in The Netherlands he worked for three companies in various positions, as well as taking on other internal interim roles. E.g. Tridion, as the founding managing consultant; Baan, as the founder & director of Baan company's global Beta (trials) Programme, and of Baan Release Management; Busak & Shamban as a ERP international programme manager & as a HRM project manager. His responsibilities within these companies have meant that he has been on the management boards of a number of large, complicated, international, and high risk projects.
